Tax ID Types:
Social Security Number (SSN) – Used for Sole Proprietors and Single-Member LLCs taxed as disregarded entities. If you haven’t registered for an EIN, you likely use your SSN for tax purposes.
Employer Identification Number (EIN) – Required for Multi-Member LLCs, S Corporations, C Corporations, Partnerships, and Nonprofits. Single-Member LLCs that elect S-Corp or C-Corp taxation must also have an EIN.
